James K. Davis is a member of the State and Federal bars for the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Davis has worked for the Walton Law Group, LLC for the past four years. His practice areas include probate law, estate planning, family law, real estate, and general civil litigation. Mr. Davis is a retired U.S. Department of Justice attorney. As a legal editor for the Office of the Solicitor General, Mr. Davis worked on a broad range of issues, including cases dealing with Guantanamo prisoners and the Affordable Care Act. He was an attorney-advisor with the Office of Information Policy, where he was involved in litigation relating to the Freedom of Information Act. Earlier in his career with the Department of Justice, Mr. Davis worked as a contractor with the Environmental and Natural Resources Division. Mr. Davis has previously practiced law with firms in Washington, D.C. and in Illinois, working on family law, probate, and bankruptcy cases. Mr. Davis has also worked as the general counsel for a government contractor, where he litigated procurement protests, negotiated and prepared subcontracts, teaming agreements, and non-disclosure agreements, researched issues involving the Federal Acquisition Regulations, and counseled management on government contract matters, as well as personnel and employee benefits issues. Mr. Davis, who holds a Master of Arts degree from La Sierra University in Riverside, Cal., and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Mass., has a juris doctor degree that was awarded by the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois.
